Finally...a picture of Shanya Nabarrete with her favorite uncle (she doesn't know it yet, but so what?).

On a hike near Julian, California. Just a few weeks later, the massive forest fires consumed a lot of this area.

About four miles in at the first junction, two miles left to Kapalaoa Cabin (Kelly's favorite).
Approaching Kapalaoa Cabin with Sliding Sands in the background.
Toan on the Halemau'u switchback trail leading out of the crater.
Elijah Nabarrete, just a few hours old...and I was the FIRST visitor!
Just to the left of Red Peak Pass, about 12,000 feet up, there was about a 150' or 200' rock scramble that I did. Here's
a closeup.
And here's the normal shot. Can you still see me on top?
This jazz/blues group was performing at another winery we visited (a second winery...I must have been LOADED by then!) Here
I am talking upright bass with the cats.
The "hero shot" and information to the left is absolutely correct. To be fair, I included this picture of the first
run. Sheesh.
Lance Legweak?
Beaming mother and contented son.
Dionne with a couple of REALLY cute guys!
The fact that this stunning waterfall is in the middle of the desert makes it all the more beautiful. We camped right next
to it on the Grand Canyon trip.
In December, 2005, buddy Craig Wedge and I hiked up Mauna Loa. This pic is inside the summit cabin just before the final
hike down, and we're clutching our precious water bottles. The temperature got down to 34 degrees...INside the cabin.

The higher we got, the more snow was on the mountain. In some places, it was four-feet deep! I melted some for water on
the last night, and it tasted great!
Christie, Maxine, Kristin, Merritte, Kimmi, Mat, Jeff, Kelly, Guy and Judy relax at Hosmer Grove after another superb weekend
trekking Haleakala in early 2007.
Kelly with Rocky Brown and husband DeShannon Higa. Rocky was in the original Broadway cast of Miss Saigon and DeShannon is
the finest horn player in the state.

On our recent backpacking trip to Yosemite, before we even hit the trailhead, the snow hit us. Here are Kimmi, Jimmy and
Guy (in the background) in the middle of the white stuff. And this happened on the last weekend of summer!
Kelly, Guy and Kimmi with Half Dome behind us.
Our route took us to the farthest summits framed by the trees in this picture...19 miles away and 12,000 feet high.
The three of us also visited Beringer Bros. winery in Napa when we got back to the Bay area. Kelly at a winery...I must have
been drunk.
Just came back from Vail this month. I went as a total, 100% novice...basically fell down the hill on my first run taking
30 minutes to get to the bottom, getting one ski stuck in a small tree during the fiasco. On the third run, I did not fall
at all and by the fifth, I did the run in three minutes. On the second day, I made it down a Black Diamond.
EZ-boy with Uncle Kelly.
A stunning vista of the Grand Canyon on our September, 2005 hike there.
The day after hiking out of the canyon, Guy, Kimmi, Darci and I did a day hike halfway up Mt. Charleston, an hour out of Las
Vegas.
Jeff, Maxine, Guy, Christine, Merritte, Kimmi, Christie and Kelly on the Kokee Rim Trail, 2006.
Buddies Steve and Nicia Platt along with Christie scope out the innards of Haleakala Crater.
Christie and Kelly trekked up about 3,000 feet on the Tongariro Northern Circuit Great Walk, New Zealand, October, 2006.
That's Mt. Ngauruhoe behind us.
